Erin Ford brings The Good Life back to Grossman’s | TorontoMoon.ca 170512Fr | Shows for Friday, May 12, 2022

Erin Ford -FACEBOOK

\ TO CENTRAL \

It might have been at Grossman’s Tavern that I first heard Erin Ford play going back to what must be getting on close to two decades ago now.  It’s been a long time since then but the feisty and fiercely talented Blues-Rock guitarist, singer and composer is back there for an early evening show today.

Ford, who also teaches guitar out of her Mississauga studio, continues to be a regular presence at Grossman’s, appearing there, from time to time, not only with her own band but at the monthly First Friday and Fourth Thursday early evening shindigs.

In fact her talent-rich band The Good Life, contains several fixtures from those monthly hoots, including Kevin Jeffrey on bass, Wayne Neon on sax and flute, Sean Peever on guitar and Jon Mccann on drums.

This evening you can expect Ford to share tunes from her latest Natural Progression album along with other originals from a long and impressive career as well as a few covers.

Some of the covers will include tunes by her friend the late Christine Gaides, who passed away last summer.  Ford often performed with Gaides and was among those who helped to raise funds to set up a memorial park bench for the departed songwriter and to pay for releasing her posthumous album last September, dedicating a show to her memory and performing at the disc’s release/life celebration.

There’s no door charge for the 6-9 show in the room at 379 Spadina Ave. (between Dundas and College) but from what I’m told about the new disc you’ll want to bring along enough cash to pick up a copy of that while you’re there.
