It’s a great night to love Big Tobacco | TorontoMoon.ca 170610Sa | Shows for Sat. June 10, 2022

Big Tobacco promo shot cropped

\ TO CENTRAL/TO WEST \

It’s been a couple of years now since we told you about the latest recording release by Big Tobacco and The Pickers, a TO band which crafts truly authentic Country originals.  No need to call it alt-Country, Country-Pop or any of the modifiers that so readily come to mind with some of what passes for Country these days —this stuff is the real deal.

You can always hear a couple of tunes from the album we wrote about, The King Is Gone, by checking out the Music tab on their website, of course, but hey,  Country music, more than most, is meant to be a social experience so it’s bound to be a lot more fun hearing it live.

You’ve got two opportunities to do that tonight as the group plays its monthly second-Saturday 6-8 p.m. no-cover matinee at Cameron House on Queen St. near Spadina, then gallops over to Dakota Tavern on Ossington at Dundas West for a 10-2 show on the well appointed pro-calibre stage.  Dakota will set you back a sawbuck at the door but you’ll hear them in full glory with lots of room to dance (if it’s not too packed, which it probably will be.)

If you take your time heading west from the Cameron you may catch the first few tunes from another impressive original Country-flavoured artist as Kayla Howran appears for an 8-10 stint.
