Jazz-Blues piano man Peter Hill is so well known as an accompanist with several highly regarded TO acts that people may forget he’s also a composer and band leader in his own right.

His main gig is with the Laura Hubert Band, with whom he’s been tickling the ivories and audiences’ music bones for 15 years now since she first switched genres from Rock. But he’s also a regular accompanist to newly rejuvenated “Swing Sweetheart” Alex Pangman in her Alleycats band, the regular 88s man for the house band at Chalkers Pub for the weekly Wed. Jazz singers jam and also often gigs with  Shannon Butcher and Colonel Tom and The American Pour, to name just a couple.

It’s been over five years now since he released his debut album, For Now, at The Rex, where he has been appearing with his quintet on a semi-regular basis before and since, so maybe it’s time for him to think about recording another. You can ask him about that at the club tonight when his band features starting at 9:30. -Gary 17
