Schuey’s in Etobicoke going Green for new Thursday jam | TorontoMoon.ca 170105Th | Shows for Thurs. Jan. 05, 2017

James Green 2016 -FACEBOOK

\ ETOBICOKE NORTH \

I haven’t yet had the opportunity to hear Rock/Blues guitarist James Green perform live, but his pedigree speaks for itself: he was an original member of the iconic Rolling Stones covers troupe The Blushing Brides when it was formed in 1978 and instrumental to their quick rise to fame, performing on the group’s first original hit song in 1981, “What You Talkin’ About,” that is still a huge golden oldie in Quebec.

After leaving the Brides in the ‘80s and performing with various other acts, a few years ago he also launched his own James Green & The Blues Electric band, which seems to have been the ancestor for his current new unit, The James Green Electric.

Although I only just heard of the combo a few months ago, when it began doing some TO area dates, it seems they’re very much going to be in the face of Rock and Blues fans over the next little while.

Tonight they kick off a new Thursday jam they’re hosting at Schuey’s at 1130 Martin Grove Rd. in north Etobicoke, where the group also performed for a gig last month, then tomorrow night the band returns to Linsmore Tavern in east TO, where it previously did a night in November.

Later this month, on the 21st, they’ll be at Black Swan Tavern in east TO, where they also did a show last year along with a 2016 appearance at McGradie’s Pub in Scarborough after a series of dates in various Quebec cities, suggesting that Green has largely been based there until recently.

Certainly Etobicoke musicians hungry for some action on a Thursday night can be expected to welcome him with open arms, and I’d expect a few others will travel from a ways off to check out this event, which includes a full backline and welcomes individual players and groups alike.  Things get underway at 9 and it’s scheduled to go at least till midnight.
