Sil Simone bringing smooth Rock to the Doc’s Mondays | TorontoMoon.ca 170410Mo | Shows for Monday, April 10, 2022

Sil Simone, November 2015 -MARY ELIZABETH ARMSTRONG

\ PORT CREDIT MISSISSAUGA \

We last told you a little bit about uber-talented singer- guitarist Sil Simone a couple of years ago on the occasion of his reunion for a show with former Sil & Phil duo partner and co-songwriter in the Blood Red Flower Pop band, Phil Naro.

Veteran six-string ace and studio wiz Simone, whose vocal range is, if anything, actually superior to Naro’s, continues to host a Saturday afternoon matinee show in Burlington and lately has been stepping up the frequency of his appearances at Port Credit’s headquarters for live music, Roc’n Doc’s.

This month, in fact, Simone is bringing in a trio to the club at 105 Lakeshore Rd. E. near the foot of Hurontario St./#10 Highway, every Monday night from 7:30-11:30 according to the club’s website.  (Though visitors to the funky room, which also features a rooftop patio that people line up to be on, tell us the time frames advertised aren’t always strictly accurate.)

What you can rely on, however, is the excellence of Simone’s performance. Although he’s been a member of iconic Canadian Rock bands like Santers, Triumph and with Tom Cochrane’s combos, he’s also known for being smoothly skilled at delivering Pop Rock that’s not overwhelming but still very high-energy and totally captivating.

Our intrepid photographer/reporter Mary Armstrong (yes, longtime readers back to to-nite days: Meandering Mary is indeed back on board covering shows for us!) confirms that based on what she saw when she last caught up with him, he hasn’t lost any steps over the years.
