The Piston pumps up Indie Tuesdays to go weekly - TorontoMoon.ca 150421Tu Shows for Tuesday, April 21, 2022

We’ve told you a couple of times about the biweekly indie series (originally known as Two-Four Tuesdays when it was held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month) that’s been going on at Bloor St. West club The Piston for just over a year now.

Indie Tuesdays April 21Started by Steve York of Mercy Flight (and co-host of the Freefall Sundays open stage at Supermarket downtown, which event celebrated its eighth birthday in February) the Piston series has always included performances by York and his crew along with two or three other songwriters doing sets.

It must be going well, because starting tonight, less than two months after its first anniversary, the event is going weekly York announced yesterday.

What might be different is that York’s combo may not be doing a set —at least they’re not mentioned in the promo for the event. I’d be surprised if he’s not there at least to shepherd the proceedings and support the artists however.

I can’t really tell you anything about the scheduled acts (Megan Lane, Jocelyn Alice and Ménage) but if York had any hand in picking them, as he most likely did, then you can count on them being quality performers.

Things get underway at 9 and there’s no mention of a cover charge —since the event is co-sponsored by both Steamwhistle Brewery and Long  & McQuade Musical Instruments (whose flagship store is a few doors away from the room at 937 Bloor St. W.) it’s probably either free or a pwyc affair.
