As a former longtime resident and habitué of the Kensington Market area and its local clubs, Sauble Beach resident and fearlessly literate Rock songwriter Ted Rusk is well familiar with the sort of conditions that turned an ordinary house fire into a killer catastrophe in the Bohemian-style district the night of March 19. No doubt when he returns to his old stomping grounds to perform tonight in the heart of the neighbourhood, at Lola on Kensington Ave., there’ll be much talk among the locals about the disaster a stone’s throw or two away in between sets of his tunes and those of co-headliners and Rusk’s Grey County pals Shotgun Wedding.

At the heart of the upbeat, dance-friendly shows that firewagon Blues band The Blazers deliver with such great success to audiences across the GTA is the guitar playing of Josh Gordon. The sizzling six-stringer is also a songwriter and fronts his own very versatile eponymous combo, which gets gigs here and there when he’s not starting musical fires with the Blazers. Tonight his trio appears at the new 6th Street Pub in Etobicoke on Dundas St. W. in the commercial block next to the Fox & Fiddle a little west of Islington Ave.
