Peter Hill and Lisa Particelli toast 8 years of Girls Night Out in January 2013 -Gary 17

\ TO DOWNTOWN \

We told you five months ago about the latest incarnation of Lisa Particelli’s long-running weekly Girls Night Out singers’ jam series at the new 120 Diner on Church St. downtown.

After seven years at Chalkers Pub and for four years before that in locations in Cabbagetown and east TO, the weekly event continues to attract a talented group of participants, mostly female and mostly singers but sometimes also including instrumental players of both genders sitting in.

(In addition to being open to men and to players as well as singers, the Girls Night Out Singers’ Jazz Jam isn’t restricted to just Jazz either –often vocalists will do R&B, Pop, show tunes or other styles of music, including some originals on occasion.)

The shows, anchored by Particelli with piano man Peter Hill and stand-up bass player Ross McIntyre, moved from Chalkers after the North York pub was sold last summer and also switched nights from Wednesdays to Tuesdays –until now.

As of tonight the shows return to Wednesdays, still at the two-level room at 120 Church Street, and the time frame has been re-tweaked as well, from 7-11 back to the longstanding 8-12 schedule.
