Thirteen year-old Iron Maiden prodigy at Rockpile tonight | TorontoMoon.ca 191228Sa | Shows for Saturday, December 28, 2021

Maiden 06 guitarist Sebastian Burnside

\ ETOBICOKE \

Young Sebastian Burnside has been creating a sensation over the past two years according to veteran Hard Rock musicians, since the then-twelve year-old guitarist who loves Iron Maiden made his debut at a jam in Etobicoke.

Now 13, for the past year or so he’s been the guitarist with a Maiden tribute, Maiden 06, that appears at the club tonight along with one of Canada’s primo KISS tributes, Destroyer.  (Which has been together way longer than this kid has been alive!)

Let’s allow Maiden 06 singer James Alcock, who runs the monthly Hard Rock jam at Rockpile and is the singer in the Maiden tribute act, explain:

“This 12 year old kid came out to the Rockpile Heavy Metal Jam with his folks and asked to play some Iron Maiden and we thought ‘Awwwwwwww……..cute.’

“Then he got up and played and blew everyone there away.

“No one had any idea what would come of it.”

What came of it was that the band Maiden 06 was formed based largely around this remarkable prodigy’s six-string prowess.  The group, Alcock says, has “”headlined in Hamilton and Brampton —but this [Rockpile] is where it all started.”

Cover for the show, which starts at 8 in the room at 5555 Dundas St. West, is $22.

While you’re in the area, if your taste is for authentic 60s-style Rock and Pop, btw, you can also check out a group of stellar veteran players, Pop Cherry, appearing at nearby Southside Johnny’s (3653 Lake Shore Blvd. W.), for no cover starting at 10.
