\ OAKVILLE \
With all the talk and controversy about a couple of minor British Royals coming to live in Canada, some music fans may wonder what all the fuss is about, since we already have royalty living here.
That would be the four members of The Kings (aka The Kings Are Here these days), the near legendary band and CanRock royalty that had a huge 70s hit with “The Beat Goes On/Switch Into Glide” and which, as I’ve written in the past, continues to produce top-flight radio-ready music that deserves to be at the top of the charts imho.
I still have regular earworms from some of the tunes from their 2003 release Because Of You, including, in addition to the title track, timeless gems like “The Fools Are In Love,” “Do You Rock and Roll” and “If The Stars Come Out Tonight.”
Tonight the group takes the stage for a show at Moonshine Café in Oakville to kickstart the 14th anniversary weekend for the club, which their promo describes as their “hometown spot … with great sound, good food and cold drinks.”.
Tickets are just $15 for the 9-12 concert (if they’re not already sold out) in the room at 137 Kerr St. in the burg’s downtown area.
