Jesse Parent performs at Cambridge porch party -website

Although he won’t be holding any big gathering to celebrate today’s release of a new single recording, Waterloo based songwriter Jesse Parent can still expect a lot of people to hear him perform it today.

Parent, who presents a smooth acoustic style and mellow voice accompanied by guitar or piano, is normally a regular feature in various bars in the Waterloo area, including toney Lana’s Lounge in Waterloo where he appears every Thursday in normal times, The Rich Uncle Tavern in Kitchener and The Wooly Pub in Guelph.  He’s also done shows in TO at venues as diverse as Horseshoe Tavern and Cameron House.

In addition to the bar gigs he has released three albums of originals, including last year’s Somedays, Tomorrows and Best Laid Plans.

The new track, inspired, as so many songs of late are, by the COVID protocols, is a soulful ballad, “Learning to Live Apart” that can be expected to be included on a fourth album he has hoped to release this year.

Despite a somewhat mournful aspect, the tune does also contain a message of hope and is extremely easy to listen to.  And as of today you don’t need to travel to Waterloo to attend a bar gig release to hear him perform it.

You can see and hear the new song in his touchingly produced, poignant YouTube video already viewed by 171 people since being posted this morning, and also check out some others he’s posted there on his YouTube channel.
