As usual, trying to find out exactly what is or isn’t happening in live music on Boxing Day is a struggle, even a fight!  While Facebook listings might lead you to believe certain regular events are happening, in many cases when you check websites of those few clubs that bother to maintain reliably up-to-date and reasonably accessible show listings you find that in fact the rooms are closed.

In other cases rooms and artists make a point of emphasizing that they are staging a Boxing Day party/show.  I’ve basically eliminated anything I’m not sure of except in some 905 regions where I mostly depend upon a local, not always totally reliable, source for info.

So unless a regularly recurring show specifically says Boxing Day show I’ve dropped it from today’s listings, rather than send you off on a wild goose chase.

But if you’re ready to take a break from family and Christmas-everything, there are some appealing shows, including a few open mics and jams, that are guaranteed to be happening to help restore your balance.  Which you need when you’re fighting for your sanity, as many of us are by now this time of year.
