JT holds official launch of ‘Tech Noir’ album at Horseshoe tonight

\TORONTO DOWNTOWN\

I’ve already written about the newest recorded product released by eclectic and unpredictable songwriter Julian Taylor: his Dance/Funk/R&B album with his eponymous Julian Taylor Band.

But while JT (as friends and fans fondly refer to the effervescent, charming and self-effacing mega-talent in our midst) has been sharing tracks from the disc on Facebook and with friendly media outlets, his show tonight at Horseshoe Tavern (370 Queen St. W.) marks the official drop of his delightful and surprising Tech Noir collection of original hip, contemporary tunes.

The ‘Shoe has been a welcoming venue for JT over the years –it’s where he also holds his annual Christmas/reunion show for his much acclaimed defunct Staggered Crossing Indie-Pop band, which made some serious inroads on mainstream charts before he came to a parting of the ways with his record company and ended up founding his own Bent Penny Records almost a decade ago now.

As I told you previously, tracks from the new album have already been featured on television series such as CBS’s “Sherlock” and have also received some rave review from critics. You can hear one on the Featured Tracks section of the Moon website.

There’s another, headlining, band performing at the show, so Julian’s party starts early, at 9 p.m. Personally, I wouldn’t want to be a member of the Orgone feature band having to follow an act like his!
