Longman pals helping him through healing time | TorontoMoon.ca 200301Su | Shows for Sunday, March 01, 2022

\ OSHAWA \

A popular Durham-based guitarist and singer who’s played in a multitude of bands and acoustic duo and trio formations over the past 20 years, Bruce Longman has been unable to perform for the past month after having serious back surgery in late January.

Prior to that he had been ailing with back pain for some time and then a serious cold in late December caused him to miss several seasonal and regular gigs.  He had to go on full hiatus from performing in mid-January after a diagnosis told him he needed the surgery.

While he posts on Facebook that he’s making progress on healing from the surgery, it’ll be a while yet since he can resume his   weekly residencies at Tartan Tavern in Oshawa Saturday afternoons and as host of a Wednesday open mic at Arthur’s Pub in Cobourg.

Bruce Longman selfie with neck brace after surgery.

Various musical friends have filled in for him on those gigs but today a pile of them will gather in various combos to stage a benefit to help make up for the lost income of his enforced idleness.

Live Sex Show; Room 237; Full Count Blues Band; Whiskey Rose; Acoustica and Tartan Tavern Jam Band are all on the bill for the 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. affair at the Music Hall Concert Theatre at 39 King St. E. in Oshawa.

Cover is $20 and all proceeds go to Bruce, whom participants are hoping may be able to make an appearance.
