\ ETOBICOKE \

With the long weekend set to kick off (does anyone actually work on the Friday of a weekend that has a holiday Monday?) tonight will be a good chance for Heavy Metal and classic Rock players to show their chops in Etobicoke.

The monthly Heavy Metal Jam with versatile host singer James Alcock and a talented veteran backing crew takes place tonight at Rockpile, 5555 Dundas St. West.  Though it has been billed as happening on the last Thursday of each month, it didn’t take place last week because of a touring show and the same fate appears in store for it this month, when another showcase act is scheduled.

No matter —this gathering has a good following from what I’m told and if you like your Rock hard and heavy this no-cover 8-12 show is guaranteed to get your ears ringing.

While you’re in the area there’s also great Pop Rock happening nearby, namely The Nomads at Timothy’s Pub, also from 8-12, and, starting around 10ish, unpredictably engaging and talented Skip Tracer on are on stage at Southside Johnny’s (3653 Lake Shore Blvd. W. near Brown’s Line) for their riotous and highly entertaining weekly show.
