Reilly will have his heart on his sleeve again tonight - TorontoMoon.ca 150410Fr Shows for Friday, April 10, 2022

We’ve written before about how Al Reilly and his classic Rock band Catalyst have a knack for turning ordinary gigs into special occasions. But the group also has a reputation for celebrating special occasions by organizing gigs at bars where they’ve got a long history of success and once again tonight that’s the case.

Reilly and his wife Brenda Elaine, who got married 26 years ago this past week —the day before her birthday—once again celebrate the two special days together with a gig at McGradie’s Pub on Victoria Park at Ellesmere tonight.

In writing about last year’s double-whammy gala in the same room (where they always attract a full house of fervent fans) I mentioned how the couple are also regularly out on the scene attending other folks’ shows to support them, suggesting that “if the heart of Rock ‘n’ Roll is in Scarb’ra, then the aorta of that heart is this pair.”

Reilly continues to demonstrate his commitment to helping boost others’ shows and over the past ten weeks, despite seriously injuring a foot in a slip on the ice in January, they have continued to do so. Sporting a cast and crutches for much of that time and lately a leg brace and cane to help him hobble around, that didn’t stop him not only from gigging with his band but also in being in the audience for other shows and usually also being invited up on stage to enhance the vibe with his powerful and surprisingly versatile vocals.

No doubt any of his musical friends who aren’t gigging themselves will want to return the favour by coming out to pack the pub tonight and in addition to getting Brenda up to sing a tune or tune you can also expect a parade of talented guests taking to the stage to do cameos as well. 9:30 start, no cover.
