Diverse as their musical styles and career paths have been, all of the multitude of stellar talents taking part in tonight’s fundraiser for the Amy Louie Music Scholarship have one thing in common. They’ve all honed their chops at —and received paycheque from— Grossman’s Tavern over the past quarter century or more.

It’s hard to believe it’s been three years already since the spunky and witty little bar server/booker, real estate agent and mother passed away tragically before her time due to a heart condition few knew about.

It’s not just Amy’s family —from owner Sam and his wife (who will always be just “Mrs. Louie” to everyone) through their sons Tony and Benson and sister Christine— who will always cherish the memory of this passionate and willful woman. The musicians who have regularly played the room knew Amy well and regarded her —like her siblings and parents— as part of their family too.

After her passing in 2011 her family and musician-family established a music scholarship bearing her name to ensure her would endure in the musical culture of the city and tonight is the third fundraiser event for that cause featuring a lineup of players who will never forget her either.

Jerome Godboo’s group appears to be acting as the house band and confirmed guests and other bands include: Danny Marks; Fraser-Daley; Mike MacDonald; Pat Rush; The Happy Pals; Suzie Vinnick; Brian Cober & Bill Hedefine; Bruce Domoney Band; The Swinging Blackjacks; Caution Jam and The 24th Street Wailers.

It kicks off in the club at 379 Spadina Ave, a block south of College, at 8 p.m. and admission is by $20 donation to the fund.
