A “squeeZy” time tonight when Zacharin and Roth combine | 160224We Shows for Wed., Feb. 24, 2016

Noah Zacharin 2 -noahsong

Noah Zacharin -noahsong

Now happily retired from his day job, deeply soulful songwriter Noah Zacharin is set to really soar musically even more than he already has over several decades of crafting a thinking person’s Folk originals, becoming a kind of cult icon amongst the musically savvy in the Roots community and staple of Folk festivals.

Those who are familiar with his intricately interlaced guitar stylings know that in additional to being a master picker he’s a very versatile talent. He demonstrates that by the variety of his offerings and unique individual nature of all his solo shows, and also by being part of various combo acts such as Brian Gladstone’s The Guitar Boys of Alderon.

But even some longtime “Z-heads” may be surprised seeing him tonight teamed up with Peter Boyd in a combo known as The Zeitgeist Ramblers, which also includes ubiquitous and delightfully inventive guest accordion player Ed Roth. A member of all kinds of different groups —ranging from swampy Blues outfit Bentroots to improvisational European Folk Jazz innovators The Mediterranean Stars, along with Country and other bands— Roth uses his digital accordion to add fills that even keyboardists and guitarists respect, but can also deliver a mean Polka.

However for tonight’s “Squeezy Come, Squeezy Go” show starting at 9 at The Emmet Ray, 924 College St. near Dovercourt, the trio promises an “Easy Squeezy” time but “NO FRICKIN’ POLKAS!!”
