Staple of Relish musical diet, Steve Raiken returns tonight | TorontoMoon.ca 150526Tu Shows for Tuesday, May 26, 2022

\ TORONTO EAST \

A deft guitar finger-picker and crafter of intricate instrumental melodies and ballads about life’s relationships and milestones, Steve Raiken has appeared at east end-end tapas eatery and musical destination room Relish many times over the past couple of years, as I’ve written previously.

Steve Raiken -Gary 17

Raiken was one of the first artists to appear in the room at 2152 Danforth Ave., a block east of Woodbine, when they started the 7-9 p.m. Tuesday evening dinner shows back in 2013 and has continued to be a staple of that rotation, returning tonight.

Raiken weaves a captivating spell with the tunes on his debut (and so far only) 2009 album Stages and has several new tunes since then that are equally appealing, including a couple that were inspired by the marriages of his sons last year. On “Wedding Bells” he artfully interprets the sound of the nuptial celebratory ringing on his six-string Guild. Maybe it’s time he thought about recording a new album!
