Toronto Police are investigating the “suspicious” death early Sunday, October 2 of a cyclist whose body was found on Evans Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. and whom friends have identified as bass player and front man for the former Scavenger band, Donn Woods.

According to a police news release a bicycle was found near the body but a cause of death will have to be determined by an autopsy.  While his name was not released, the description of a 67-year-old clean-shaven white man with long, grey/silver hair matches that of Woods.  Friends told a Facebook poster that the distinctive blue bike with a black milk crate attached to the front belonged to Woods.

Police told a television news reporter that they are treating the death as suspicious because “we’re unclear how this person died until there is an autopsy.”

“There’s nothing indicating it is necessarily collision-related or criminal-related. But we are treating it as such until we can prove otherwise,” Constable Allyson Douglas-Cook told CBC.
