Busy accompanists Bennett and Basset ensure good shows | TorontoMoon.ca 151029Th Shows for Thurs., Oct. 29, 2015

Bennett & Ryan -Gary 17

Versatile stringsmeister Chris Bennett is a key part of several highly regarded Roots/Country-Pop groups, to the point where when you see his name listed as one of the players on a show you can pretty much be guaranteed that it’s going to be an exceptionally entertaining and high-quality experience. I first heard him accompanying rootsy indie-Pop songwriter Maria Ryan during the break at a show put on by original Country band The Ditch Horses, in which he’s part of the crew backing songwriter Reid Pickering and have had occasion to see the pair together a couple of time since, though not yet with her band. But tonight starting at 7:30 she’ll have the full four-piece with her, however, as she releases a debut album at Cadillac Lounge, 1296 Queen St. West in Parkdale. -17

Brady & Basset -Michele O’Neill

Pop Rock guitarist, singer and songwriter Shawn Brady and veteran keyboardist Hervé Basset usually manage to perform together in their Brady & Basset duo a couple times a month, which is rather amazing considering they’re both very busy with several other projects. In addition to fronting his own Northern Sons indie group Brady is also the lead singer for U2 tribute Elevation, while Basset also performs with a Johnny Cash tribute Covered In Cash, Eric Clapton tribute Forever Man and several other outfits. Tonight at 9:30 they return to lively uptown saloon McSorley’s at 1544 Bayview Ave., where, along with various downtown pubs, they’re popular features whenever they’re able to appear. -17
