Retro CanRock concert in Ancaster resurrects the 80s | TorontoMoon.ca 170826Sa | Shows for Saturday, August 26, 2021

The Kings in 2013 -GARY 17

\ ANCASTER \

There’s been a lot of “retro concerts” happening this summer as the 50th anniversary of “The Summer of Love” has been celebrating the 60s.  But this afternoon and this evening it’ll be more like the 80s in Ancaster as URG Music Fest features some of Canada’s top Rock bands from that era.

The concert, which runs from 4:30 till 11 in the Ancaster Fairgrounds at 630 Trinity Rd. South, includes some of that decade’s biggest radio acts —or at least the current versions of the groups, hopefully with at least one or two original members.

(I know for sure that one of the acts, The Kings, will have their main two guys on hand: David Diamond, aka Dave Broadbent on bass and vocals and Mister Zero, John Picard on guitar.  This group (which performs from 5 – 5:40) continues to provide a dynamic, exciting show that, as I described three years ago prior to a previous appearance in Oakville, is without parallel.)

Honeymoon Suite, Platinum Blonde, Helix and Saga are also on the bill, along with younger Rock group Freedom Train and 80s tribute group The McFlys.  It’ll be just like being in the ‘80s again, except with everyone taking phone pictures instead of doing drugs!

It’s not cheap to attend however: tickets are $60 or $80 for a VIP ticket (presumably that means a chair in a licensed area near the stage).  But hey, can you really put a price on this kind of living nostalgia?
