\ TO EAST \

I wrote not too long ago about Dan Dimock, an acoustic Pop performer I had only met a few weeks earlier who impressed me at the Monday night open stage hosted by Sebastian Agnello at Black Swan.

As I wrote then, what particularly stayed with me was his willingness to take musical chances, attacking songs (like “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak and “Sultans of Swing” from Dire Straits) that few others would ever attempt to do.

Accompanied by bass player Darwin Bruce, he also impressed me by doing a more than creditable job on tunes by The Beatles, Chubby Checker and an original, “Reasons Why”, that was quite soulful and well crafted.

Tonight, accompanied by a relation, Randy Dimock, on harp, Dimock will get a chance to show what he can do as an anchor act for a show at the Swan, 154 Danforth Ave., which he’s sharing with a band known as Good Looking Dog.  From all that I’ve heard from this fellow on a few occasions now, it ought to be an interesting evening of pretty fine acoustic music.

There’s no cover and it starts at 9:30.
