Raising the Bär at the bar tonight with a palooza Folk night | TorontoMoon.ca 180603Su | Shows for Sunday, June 03, 2022

Michael Bär trio @ Winterfolk in 2016

\ TO EAST \

Now that he’s officially retired from teaching, as we told you back in February, songwriter Michael Bär has time to devote to something he’s even better at than controlling and instructing kids: writing tunes.

Hopefully that will include numbers for a new album of a similar ilk to his highly entertaining and thought-provoking  debut disc Sofa On The Curb, which we told you about upon its release in late 2016.

170520 Support the MoonAnd he now has plenty of time to put on shows like the retirement spectacular he produced in February and the one he’s staging tonight with co-host Arlo Burgon at Black Swan: the aptly named “B’Arlopalooza 3 “What The Folk cavalcade of local songwriters doing original and cover Roots tunes from the ‘50s through to today.

As the title suggests, it’s actually the third year that the pair have teamed up to put on a “B’Arlopalooza” extravaganza and once again, in addition to the hosts, there’s a stellar lineup of artists involved.

The 4-8 pay-what-you-can affair in the room at 154 Danforth Ave. near Broadview includes sets by Pete Otis; Sebastian Agnello; Paul Cross; Brian Gladstone; Brian Jantzi; Linda Saslove; Harpin’ Norm Lucien; Peter Verity and several others.
