Holiday Monday means more shows and less shows

/GTA-WIDE/

Holiday Mondays are always funny creatures, with some places that normally have events on the first workday of the week cancelling them (such as the open stage at Dora Keogh, which is dark tonight) while other rooms put on special holiday events.

Two afternoon shows going on today which might get you in the mood for some fireworks later on take place pretty far apart in the GTA.

In Scarborough Tommy Rocker and his Classic Rock Show band moved their new Sunday jam at Centro Pizza to today from yesterday –it’s scheduled to kick off at 3 and run till 7 p.m. or so in the room at 3406 Kingston Rd.

Out in Port Credit, Lake Affect roadhouse on Port Street holds a special Blues show with veteran singer/harp player Jerome Godboo and his band of stellar talents starting at 4:30. (If you stick around the area there’s a great jam happening at Roc’n Doc’s starting at 10 p.m. hosted by Kimberley Wetmore & Co. featuring Dave Girdlestone of Soul Funkshun.)

Most of the other regular Monday night shows and jams are on as scheduled but it’s never bad idea to check with the club (subscribers can find phone numbers for most of them in the Venues Directory on the website) first to make sure there hasn’t been a change.
