Although the third album of instrumental guitar selections by acclaimed composer D’Arcy Wickham has already been performed publicly at a show that was part of the Winterfolk festival in February, tonight is the formal release when copies of the disc will finally be made available to his fans and the public.

'Signal Hill' album cover

‘Signal Hill’ album cover

As I described in some dctail prior to the Winterfolk show, Signal Hill is another brilliant work by the master picker and musical instructor and award-winning songwriter.  Produced by Jason Fowler, who also wrote one of only three covers of the ten tracks on the disc, like the transmitted sounds that gave the album’s namesake mound its moniker, the music here resonates with no need for words.   It delights on hearing it and it remains with you in the form of most pleasant earworms in several cases.

Accompanied tonight by his son Oliver, Wickham will perform the disc in the cozy rear lounge of Free Times Café at 320 College St. near Augusta Ave. starting at 8 p.m.  Doors open at 7:30 and cover is just $10.
